BFFs.

Once again, it's been forever since I blogged. Our summer is just too busy!

Last week, four of my best friends from college came out to visit from Missouri. It was so great to catch up, and we had the best time hiking in the mountains, drinking wine in our hot tub in Breckenridge, and just giggling at dinner downtown. I'm so glad they made the trip out and am so thankful for each of them.

Mike was a real trooper and was extremely patient with us and the high levels of estrogen that overloaded the apartment. (Read: bras and clothes strewn about the apartment, 5 cosmetic bags in the bathrooms, and countless exclamations of "Mike, don't come in here right now!").

Simple.

Two words can describe my weekend: thankful & joyful

On Saturday morning, when I had to be at work at 7am, Mike got up with me and made me a cup of coffee. So simple, but so sweet. He didn't need to get up early on his day off!

On Saturday afternoon, I got the sudden urge to bake cupcakes. (Like, a LOT of cupcakes. So many that I had to give a lot away.) The recipe was awesome and they turned out great even at altitude, and I really did enjoy giving them out to friends. Being thankful for something as simple as cupcakes might seem odd, but delicious food is something I take for granted. There are so many people in the world who don't have the luxury of being able to bake or eat yummy food, so I'm thankful for never knowing the pain of hunger. (Click here to read about a project that our church took part in to help feed those in need. I couldn't go because I had to work -- see above -- but it's an awesome organization!)

On Saturday evening, when I was sleepy and cranky after working and baking absurd amounts of cupcakes, Mike made me get up and go on a walk at Castlewood Canyon State Park. There were no dramatic peaks, but it was so peaceful, and it made me so glad to live in Colorado. Thanks, hubs, for getting me off the couch!

On Sunday afternoon, we hung out with friends from church, and I was so grateful for and excited about the community we've built and the relationships we've developed. The people of Denver Pres are awesome, and have blessed us in so many ways.

And last but not least....it looks like the Cards are going to the World Series. :)

Peace, love, & LotsOfCupcakes!

Like Sardines.

Happy Labor Day! I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend! Mine was a whole four days, and I certainly had a great time. Mike and I had four friends from high school/college come hang out with us in the Mile High City, and we had a blast showing them around and enjoying the cool weather that happened to roll through. Even though Mike and I are thoroughly enjoying our new home and new friendships, it was great to be able to relax with old friends (even if we were all crammed into our teeny apartment like sardines). Here's a recap of the weekend:

Squeezing 2 air mattresses into our living room. Isaac attempted to race Jon and Kathryn's self-inflating mattress using his manual air pump. Valiant effort, but the Pollmann's won.

Hiking out at Golden Gate Canyon State Park

After touring the Coors Brewery, which is one of my favorite things to do in Denver. 3 free beers? Yes, please.

We also did a lot of scoping out deals at Sniagrab as well (a huge annual ski/snowboard sale), because the four of them are coming back in December to go skiing! Mike and I, of course, couldn't resist the bargains and walked out with a new board for Mike and a killer jacket for me. Can't wait for the season!!

There's a Sniagrab only 1 mile from our house, so it's going to take a lot of self-control to not just drop in on my way home from work for the next week. :) My mantra until the bargain madness is over? "We want to buy a house. We want to buy a house."

Peace, love & CrowdedApartments :)
